South Coast

Bursting with banging tunes, graffiti jams and breakdancing, this character-based documentary charts how something as American as hip hop found a quintessentially British voice in the least likely of places. From gay hip hop crews to hardcore illegal train graffers, old skool MCs mentoring the next generation to born-again Christian rappers, South Coast shines a light on a broad and absorbing range of characters.

Selected for screening at dozens of international film festivals including Bermuda Film Festival, Raindance, Israel, H20 New York, Helsinki, Belfast and winner of Best Documentary at the International Film Festival. Features Fatboy Slim, Dr Syntax, The Imagineers, Digitech, Stig of The Dump, Baba Brinkman and many, many more.

“8/10. A Gem” - Clash Music Magazine; “Joyful and Laid Back” - The Daily Telegraph; “Not just a documentary for the Hip Hop Enthusiast” - Raindance

Embers Promo

I had in development with co-writer Josh Freedman-Berthould ‘Embers’ a pastoral psychological thriller. The film was about a couple trying for a baby who quit London after a horrific encounter for a sleepy Sussex market town. But all is not what it seems beneath the chocolate-box facade. Set against the backdrop of the build up to the annual Lewes Bonfire Parade, things in the Sussex countryside prove no safer than the city.

This short promo sets out the tone and atmosphere of ‘Embers’ - and is a window into the anarchic, pagan world of Lewes Bonfire parade against which the film reaches it’s bloody denoument.

Filmed by Will Jewell, Rowan Holford, Daniel Donovan. Edited by Sashi Arnold. Music by Mogwai
